Arrrrgglefargleblargle

In Titmouse Vancouver, my co-worker May set a bi-monthly theme for people to submit arwork. The theme was: Self-portrait in Breadwinners. So I went out to express my inner beauty.

Very inspired by artists on Tumblr for this piece, most notibly: OhCaraCara, and tattoo designs.

Portrait gif

Trying to have fun with solid shapes and colors. I think if I can improve on that, I'll be able to caricature people the way I've always wanted to in gif form.

Happy Valentine's day

I've made a new years resolution last year to not be a people-pleaser, but instead to just be myself. I'm still working on it but for the most part it has made me a much happier person. Give up those who make you worry or put you down.

I'm very thankful for friends and family that make me so happy.

Loop de loop. Animate gifs for fun!

http://www.loopdeloop.org

Loop de loop is a site in which they hold screenings for animated gifs. And from what i've heard, they post the winner. Awesome! I think every aspiring animator should try this. There are many examples on their site and it does not have to be technically good to get some recognition.

For people who don't want to make 5 min short films, this is perfect. Plus I love animated gifs.

DO IT.

Cat and Thor doodle

For the sake of artistic motivation, I am posting very rough and messy doodles.

This is Wybie my old roommate's cat. I lived with this ridiculously playful cat who didn't like cuddling unless he felt like it and there is absolutely no one else in the apartment. He huffs at me when you don't play with him and loves to fetch. I miss this cat once in a while so I started doodling him. I tried to give him some expression but people recognize him more with that vacant wide-eyed look.

And then I drew Chris Hemsworth after I rewatched Thor again. My love goggles make me feel like my significant other kinda looks like him.

Bus. Yay?

This oddly enough was just a bit challenging just because I had never painted a flat cartoony bus before. So I met half way and did a somewhat cartoonish-realistic one because it was such a flat shot that will be animated in Flash and After Effects.  I would gladly accept any sort of tips and helpful criticism. I'll probably tweak it, and I believe this is last of the backgrounds.

Layout/BGs for a short film

BAM! Here are just a few layouts produced right after getting the Yiynova tablet monitor. I feel so much more comfortable producing artwork. I feel a lot more confident producing lines and shapes with my pen. It feels so much more natural and smooth, that instead of just constantly trying to constantly producing lines and then having to erase again and again, the time is spent on learning how to paint and draw. Isn't that what every digital artist is looking for?

If you're a gamer, I would hope you'd notice the peculiar design of the trees.

Quick Alien World Concept

I wanted to play around with different colors and learn how to paint a waterfall. I produced this in a day and I am going to post the finishing piece soon.

Flap your wings awkard Asian mom angel

I thought about mom being an angel and what that would be like. Can't help it. She's gotta be drawn. I pictured mom finally getting her wings and it being a very awkward and difficult (we tried teaching her dancing and it was nearly impossible).  It would take her a little while to learn how to fly properly. All the other angels or whatever would have to shout at her to stop running in the air, and to just flap her wings. If she couldn't learn how to text all these years, she'll probably just end up trying to 'walk' instead. (On clouds? Sure.)

Royal Winter Fair 2008

I went to the Royal Winter Fair 2008 and it was fantastic! I got in some neat digital paintings and sketches.

The sheep above were positively dear and loved my head massages. The lady was dressed up in victorian gear to advertise her little booth. At one point, a couple of people were taking pictures of us drawing the lady.
